Recap of the TIME Colloquium on 13.01.2022
At last week’s TIME Colloquium, the Institute for Strategy, Technology and Innovation (LMU), the Institute for Technology and Organization (TUM) at TUM and the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition met the first time in this semester to discuss the recent developments in technology and innovation management as well as entrepreneurship.
In a hybrid format, two novel research papers were presented and discussed:
ISTO member Tim Meyer presented his current work on “Competition for Attention on Information Platforms: The Case of Local News Outlets,” which is co-authored by Tobias Kretschmer (ISTO), Anna Kerkhof (ifo Institute), and Carmelo Cennamo (Copenhagen Business School). The authors study if complementors that have traditionally only had access to a limited market can indeed benefit from being listed on platforms in the context of markets for attention. The paper was discussed by Lucia Baur (TUM).
Alexey Rusakov (ISTO) discussed the research project titled “Multinational Firms and Global Innovation” by Anna Gumpert (LMU), Monika Schnitzer (LMU), Kalina Manova (UCL), and Cristina Rujan (MPI). The paper examines how Multinational Companies (MNCs) organize their global production and innovation activities.
We want to thank the presenters and discussants as well as all participants for the interesting insights and lively discussion. Until next time!
